South University, founded in 1899 offers the following programs in Nursing:

Bachelor of Science in Nursing Online

South University offers a RN to BSN program online which students can finish in less than a month.  The program is accredited by CCNE.  However, students are advised to check with their state's licensure board to see if the program qualifies for the state licensing.

Academic Requirements

To be admitted to the RN to BSN program online at South University, the prospective student must meet the following requirements:

  • Completion of all general education requirements with a grade of C or higher in specified courses.
  • ASN or diploma graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Overall grade point average (GPA) in all nursing college work attempted of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Provisional admission may be granted for an overall GPA of 2.0 to 2.49 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Final admission requires completion of at least four general education courses with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Evidence of current, unencumbered RN license in state of clinical practice.

Master of Sciene in Nursing Online

South University also offers a Master of Science in Nursing program.  In this program students enhance the knowledge they use as a registered nurse, develop clinical teaching skills and learn to utilize research in the nursing practice. Upon graduation from the program, they will be prepared to pursue more advanced positions in the healthcare industry.

Admission Creiteria 

The Master of Science in Nursing online program is designed for prospective students who have:

  • Proof of high school graduation or GED
  • A bachelor’s degree in nursing from a regionally accredited school and a GPA of 2.7 or better on a 4.0 scale for the last 60 semester hours (or 90 quarter hours) undertaken.
  • Official transcripts from every college or university attended.
  • A valid unencumbered license as a registered nurse in the state in which the student completes all assignments for the program.
  • Successfully completed a 3 semester credit hour undergraduate course in descriptive and inferential statistics with a grade of C or better.
  • Three letters of recommendation: one academic, one clinical and one other.
  • Written an admissions essay relevant to the program objectives.
  • A resume describing relevant work experience, along with professional, and volunteer experiences.
